ABOUT THE TOOL

A simple way to understand your Canadian service area

A service area is the geographic region where a business is willing or able to serve customers. For some businesses, that may be a few kilometres around a storefront. For others, it may include several cities, municipalities, or postal areas.

The Numode Service Area Map Generator gives you a quick way to visualize that coverage. Enter a Canadian address, city, or postal code, choose a radius in kilometres, and the tool will map the area around that location. It also identifies nearby municipal areas and Canadian Forward Sortation Areas (FSAs) that intersect the selected radius.

01

How to use the service area map

You can create a useful coverage map in just a few steps.

Search your location

Enter a Canadian street address, city, or postal code and select the correct location from the suggestions.

2

Choose a radius

Select one of the preset distances or enter a custom service radius in kilometres.

3

Review your coverage

The map displays the selected radius and calculates its diameter and approximate geographic area.

4

Use the results

Review municipal areas and FSAs, copy the information, create a shareable link, or download the available results as a CSV.

CANADIAN POSTAL AREAS

What is an FSA?

Canadian postal codes contain six characters. The first three characters identify a broader geographic area called a Forward Sortation Area, or FSA.

For example, a postal code such as V3M 5B6 belongs to the V3M FSA.

FSAs can be useful when planning delivery zones, advertising territories, sales regions, field service areas, or simply understanding which parts of a community may fall inside a chosen radius.

Important:the postal results shown by this tool are FSA areas — the first three characters of Canadian postal codes — rather than a list of every individual six-character postal code.
EXAMPLE
V3M 5B6

The first three characters represent the FSA.

02

What does the radius actually mean?

A radius map and a driving-distance map are not the same thing.

Straight-line radius

The circle on this tool measures geographic distance outward from the selected point. A 25 km radius means every point on the edge of the circle is approximately 25 km from the centre as the crow flies.

Actual travel distance

Roads rarely follow a perfectly straight line. Bridges, mountains, waterways, traffic patterns, ferry routes, and road networks can make an actual trip considerably longer than the radius shown on the map.

i

Use the radius as a planning and visualization tool. If your business charges customers based on travel time or road distance, confirm the actual route separately before quoting or committing to service.

03

Who can use a service area map?

Any business that serves customers across a geographic territory can use a radius map as a practical planning tool.

Delivery & courier

Visualize local delivery zones or the area surrounding a dispatch point.

Home services

Useful for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, cleaning, roofing, landscaping, and other mobile services.

Sales territories

Get a quick picture of communities and postal areas around a sales location.

Local marketing

Compare geographic coverage when planning campaigns, landing pages, or regional promotions.

Field service teams

Understand the approximate area technicians or mobile teams may need to cover.

Small businesses

Create a clearer service boundary before publishing your coverage information for customers.

BUILT BY NUMODE DELIVERY

Why we built this free tool

Service-area information is often scattered across maps, postal references, spreadsheets, and individual city pages. We built this tool to bring the most useful pieces together in one simple place and make geographic coverage easier to visualize, copy, and share.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Service area map FAQ

Is the Service Area Map Generator free? +
Yes. You can create a Canadian service area map without creating an account or signing up for the tool.
Can I search anywhere in Canada? +
The location search is designed for Canadian addresses, cities, and postal codes. Availability can vary for very remote or unusual locations, but the tool is intended for use across Canada.
Are distances shown in kilometres? +
Yes. Kilometres are the primary unit throughout the tool. Mile conversions are also shown as a secondary reference.
Does the circle show driving distance? +
No. The circle represents a straight-line geographic radius from the selected location. Actual driving distance and travel time depend on the road network and local conditions.
What are the postal areas listed in my results? +
They are Canadian Forward Sortation Areas, or FSAs. An FSA is identified by the first three characters of a Canadian postal code, such as V3M or M5V.
Why does a municipality appear if only part of it is inside the circle? +
Municipal and postal areas can have irregular boundaries. An area may appear in the results when its geographic boundary intersects the selected service radius, even if the entire area is not contained inside the circle.
Can I download my service area results? +
Yes. After generating a service area, you can copy the results or download the available municipal and postal-area information as a CSV file.
